well, the weather sure turned topsy turvy. had to keep myself from skating down the front steps this morning as i was leaving from work and then, later, i really had to watch it on my afternoon lunch run. coming home was the worst, though. i decided to work late and had no idea just how insane it was getting outside. caught me by surprise. my umbrella was useless so i got a little sleet in the face. ow.
so last weekend i was getting into that new deftones album. it wore off a little sooner than i thought it would but i'm going to give it a full listen this weekend. meanwhile, somewhere i found out that dokken had released another album in 2004. i checked it out. haven't listened to it in full yet but here's my initial impression. called hell to pay, it's anything but. this album murmurs "born to be mild." and no, i'm not going to put an exclamation point in there. wouldn't be appropriate. dokken without the lynch is pretty bland. ironic, too, because when they split and each did solo albums i liked the respective solo albums quite a bit. oh well. apparently dokken's coming out with a new album this year. i hope they crank it up this time.
speaking of rocking out, in the months leading up to my last major project i shifted into a mode where i only wanted to listen to heavy, loud music. it had to wail, it had to shred. it had to be bellicose, arrogant, righteous, bombastic, menacing, etc. i never really shifted out of that mode and i guess it's just as well because round 2 of this 3 part project is due to come online in a matter of weeks. ergo the continuing preference for the loud stuff. i do try to switch it up a bit here and there but for now i think i've reconciled myself to the fact that this is just the way it's going to be for a while.
